This study investigates the relationship strategies the group Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification holder has with the Forest owners. The (FSC) standard enables an organization to manage a group of forest management units under a single certificate, a process referred to as group certification. Some certificate holders want a close relationship with the Forest owner before they are offered to become part of their certificate. Other certificate holders have less strict demands on a close relationship with the Forest owner before they are offered to become part of their certificate. The study shows that it is in many ways desirable to have a close relationship between Forest owner and group certification holder..

During the period 1952-2008, real prices of wood before taxes and charges declined. However, the actual net income has not changed by the same percentage as the price list, because taxation, driving costs and the ability to make deductions has changed. This report considers the inflation by using the Swedish consumer price index. Net income refers to the remaining income when relevant costs, taxes and fees have been paid.The purpose of this study was to examine how the private Forest owner's real net income has evolved over the period 1952-2008 for three categories of Forest owners. Marknadsundersökning av Södra skogsägarnas medlemmar inom Gislaveds verksamhetsområde

This study is done on behalf of Södra skogsägarna in the autumn of 2012. The main purpose of the study is to get an explanation to why some of the members are passive in their forestry, and how Södra can stimulate them to become more active. To achieve this a questionnaire study was conducted on the members of Södra in the community of Gislaved. The result of the study shows that there are many different factors that influence whether the Forest owner is active or not. Examples of those factors are timber prices, the Forest owner's objectives and the Forest owner's financial situation. The main goal for the Forest owners in the survey was to obtain high economic result and to increase the standing timber volume for the next generation.

Enkätundersökning hos medlemmar i Nätraälven Skogsägarförening

This report is produced with Nätraälven Forest owner association. This Forest owner association has been going through some changes the last years and therefore wanted to investigate what the members thought about the development. The main purpose of the study was to gain knowledge about the attitude of the members. The study was made with a questionnaire that was purposed to investigate the member?s opinion on their own cultivation and the view on Nätraälven as an organization. The questionnaire was sent to 110 members.

Because of the very hard competition in the roundwood market it is important to know what kind of purchase offers are required in order to buy a valuable product from Forest owners.This study aims to elucidate the crucial factors when private Forest owners choose to harvest and sell their forest. The attitudes towards nature conservation in forestry are based on the individual Forest owner. The theme of the interviews is the opinion on nature conservation in forestry. The purpose of this study is to identify if there is any difference in attitude to nature conservation in forestry according to the age of the Forest owner. Silviculture in young stands in Sweden is below the mark concerning what has to be done in the forest, and it is time to solve the problem. The problem will not be solved only by the private Forest owners, professional help is needed. Skogsägarna Mellanskog is one of four forest unions in Sweden who wants to play a role and take responsibility for forestry in the middle of Sweden. This academic essay is based on a market survey sent to 350 Forest owners in the Örebro district. 186 of them answered the questions, giving a response frequence of 53 percentage. The purpose of the essay is to find the determining factors which will make a Forest owner to find a collaborator when planning and carrying out the silviculture measures in young stands. The result of the survey shows that the Forest owners are anxious about the price and the costs. The costs have a severe effect if the silviculture measures in young stands will be carried out or not.

The purpose of this report is to find out what different preferences Forest owners have in the region where Norrskog have their operation area, what they prefer and think about Norrskog. The purpose is also to compare some of the questions to a similar study that was made in 2008. The study is made in cooperation with Norrskog which is a Forest owner cooperative. Norrskog has about 13 000 members which is about half of all Forest owners in the region. To get the answers from the Forest owners, questionnaires were sent out by mail. 371 were sent out and 102 came back. There were more members of Norrskog that responded than it was nonmembers. The results indicate that the Forest owners have long term perspectives, their priorities are to nurse the forest so they can get the profit later on.

The aim of this thesis is to study the private owner structure in the Swedish forestry. This will be done with both a investigation of Forest owners in Småland the year 2000 and 2001 and also a statistic research for the private Forest owners in Sweden right now and over the years. In Sweden more than half of the total forest area is owned by private Forest owner, witch is approximately 22 600 000 ha. Private forestry includes the owner categories private person, ordinary partnership and the estate of deceased persons. The main part of the private forestry is to be found in Norrland but also in the rest of Sweden private forestry constitute a large part of the forestry area.

This degree projects made on behalf of AB Karl Hedin to find out what private forest estate owners would like to have on a forestry-related website. The reason for finding out what estate owners think of the forest websites is to meet needs of the Forest owners who are customers of AB Karl Hedin. Marketing and use of the Internet for information search for products and services are two key concepts in this study. To be able to perform the study, a telephone survey was made to find out what estate owners want and what they are missing on a forest site. Hur olika skogsägarkategorier har försett sig med underlag för beslut och åtgärder efter stormen Gudrun : en jämförelse av medlemmar och icke-medlemmar, åbor och utbor samt kvinnor och män

During the 8th and 9th of January 2005 a devastating storm named Gudrun entered the south of Sweden and a big part of the Forest owners got their forests damaged. The study objective was to investigate on which basis and how the affected Forest owners made their managment decisions immediately after the storm and if there are any differences between different categories of Forest owners. - Members ? non members in a Forest owner association (FOA) - Resident owners ? non resident owners - Female and male Forest owner The study is based on a questionnaire survey with the purpose to examine the most important counsellor and information channels of the Forest owners. A total of 450 Forest owners participated in the survey. Results show that all categories of Forest owners prefer professional counselling rather than personal counselling.

This project was a request of Norrbodal´s Forestry Board, Västra Götaland. It was performed as a qualitative interview analysis of private Forest owner?s deficient motivation regarding pre-commercial thinning. The purpose of the project is to investigate what the Forestry Board can do to motivate private Forest owners to do more pre-commercial thinning. The results build upon 16 qualitative phone interviews with Forest owners that have their forest within the district of Norrbodal. The owners are divided into two groups, the one who have performed the pre-commercial thinning and the one that has possible pre-commercial thinning needs on their properties according to the pre-commercial thinning analysis ,which is the result of a satellite analysis.

The supply of raw materials has always been an important issue in the Swedish Forest industry. Buying timber from local suppliers is important. To ensure raw materials to their industries the forest company must offer good prices and good business deals to their suppliers. The aims with this work are to find out how the contact between private suppliers of raw materials and how the forest company can be developed. To be able to do a complete study of the problems connecting with this subject a quality interview study has been done.

The purpose of this study was to examine how small-scale private Forest ownersmake decisions regarding pre-commercial thinning. In 2015 it is ten years agosince the storm Gudrun hit the southern parts of Sweden and now large areas arein need of pre-commercial thinning. This study is built upon qualitativeinterviews with seven small-scale private Forest owners with forest properties inthe county Kronoberg. The respondents were chosen by the modelSKOGSÄGARPROFILENTM (Forest owner profile).The results of the interviews showed that five categories: ownership, the stormGudrun´s impact, silviculture, forestry contacts and driving force was important.How will their purpose and aim affect the pre-commercial thinning? Personalinterests, and expectations of the next generation to take over, are purposes thisstudy has found.
